Inquisitor Vex - Page 3

Oldie but Goodie!

It was at this stage that I wanted to be a Cam Kennedy clone!

Inquisitor Vex

Busy, busy, busy!
I've been incredibly busy lately.

So, here's a revamped 'Vex' from 10 years ago. Hard to believe this was from '98.

Vex - Blood Brothers - Page 8

Here's the last page of the 'Vex' story. Pretty corny run-of-the-mill stuff!
If you want to see more early 'Vex' crapola (I've got a few stories in the vault)...leave a comment and I'll share more!

Vex - Blood Brothers - Page 7

More horrible old stuff. Check out that amazingly bad dialogue! Sheesh!

Vex - Blood Brothers - Page 5

While I'm busy laying out the pages for the next Caretakers Tale...here's page 5 of that Vex strip to keep you all occupied and rolling in the aisles with laughter

As soon as I get a decent start on the the Caretakers 'Zombie' story...I'll start posting ASAP.

Vex - Blood Brothers - Page 4

At last! I just finished up the last page of the 'Miserable' strip for the Caretakers Tales. Again, I can't post it here...not until the book is released. So, I've posted page 4 of that Vex strip from the 80's.

Vex - Blood Brothers - Page 3

Yep...definitely a strong Breyfogle influence.

Vex - Blood Brothers - Page 2

Here's page 2 of that late 80's Vex strip.

I'll post the whole strip to keep the blog updated while I'm finishing off the 'Miserable' story.
As you can see I was heavily influenced by Norm Breyfogle. Probably one the greatest 'Batman' artist of the modern era...and so underrated.

His artwork on 'Detective Comics' was simply amazing...not since Will Eisner has there been anyone that breaks the mold in panel layout like Breyfogle.

Just my opinion anyways..for what it's worth.

Another Vex Splash!

I think this one might have been done in '89.
It was the second part of a story that appeared in a self-published comic 'White Heat'.
I named the book after my favorite James Cagney movie.

80's 'Vex' again!

Another 80's 'Vex' piece.

Notice the writers name. That's right...'Frank Moore' and combination of Frank Miller and Alan Moore. Yep, I was such a pretentious so-so back then.

I'm not that bad (At least I think I'm not!) today.

Another 80's Oldie

Yep.
Another piece from the 80's.
This was going to be a poster with one of the 'MainStream' issues.
Looking back...I like some elements of the picture. Theres a nice balance between dark and light and I love the simple pattern I used on Danielles jacket. I look back at a lot of my old artwork and realise that the older I've gotten the less creative I've become in certain areas...either that or I'm just gettin' old and jaded.
I wish I still had that same gusto and enthusiasm I had years ago. Oh well.

Another oldie!

Another oldie but goodie. This is from 1989!

I was obviously trying to imitate a Creepy/Eerie/Vampirella vibe on this. I think I used a panel from one of thoses books and put in my own characters. I wanted to see if I could learn something by doing something similar. Might have used Gonalez for this. Can't remember...it's all muddy!

Anyways, the character is 'Vex' (Jason Velacroix) and his 'sidekick' Danielle Kowalski. This was going to be a cover for 'Mainstream'.

I later revamped 'Vex'...moved him into an alternate stempunk type future and renamed the strip 'Inquisitor Vex'. I have some pages from that revamp...I'll post them at some stage.

Mainstream

While I'm sorting out my business/drawing schedule for the coming weeks...
heres an image I did for a comic book I created back in the late 80's....'MAINSTREAM'.

This was the cover for Issue 2. I was 19 when I drew it. Not bad...but I think I took the idea from an old DC book...can't remember!

When I'm stuck for something to post...I'll put up my old garbage. My old garbage is quite interesting when you comapre it to my new garbage.

The character in the vampire choke-hold is 'Vex'. Vex storylines dealt with the supernatural and were very X-Files before the X-Files....If you know what I mean.
